(B) Demonstrates the ability to articulate, model, and advocate for an appropriate school counselor identity and program.
The following course syllabi reflect how this competency was met through my graduate studies:

COUN 596: Foundations of School Counseling |
Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program
I worked with a team of classmates to create and present an example Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program (CGCP). The purpose of the CGCP is to demonstrate and track the interventions being used to meet the social, emotional, academic and career needs of the student population. Through the process of creating a CGCP, I became better equipped to use data to articulate, model and advocate for an appropriate school counseling program.

Advocacy for School Counseling
When I began my internship, I was told that attendance, mentoring, and classroom guidance would be my only tasks as a school counselor. I soon realized that there was a lot of misunderstanding in the school about what a school counselor actually does. By advocating to my principal and the rest of the school staff, I was able to build a more comprehensive school counseling program which included individual, small group, classroom and school-wide interventions aimed at meeting the social, emotional, academic and career needs of all the students.
