Mission Statement
The mission of Clackamas River Elementary School’s Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate counseling program that addresses the academic, career, personal/social, and community involvement development of all students.
School Counselors in partnership with other educators, parents/guardians, and the community seek to provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement and to ensure that all students have access to and are prepared with the skills and knowledge to contribute as productive members of society.
To implement the comprehensive school counseling and guidance program at Clackamas River Elementary School, the counselor is committed to the following:
The School Counselor at Clackamas River Elementary School believes:
- All students have dignity and worth and equity.
- No student should be discriminated against by race color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age or disability.
- All students have the right to participate in the School Counseling Program.
- All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial, sexual differences and special needs are considered when planning and implementing the School Counseling Program.
The School Counselor believes that the comprehensive School Counseling Program should:
- Be based on specified goals and developmentally appropriate competencies.
- Be planned, coordinated and delivered by the school counseling team in partnership with other school, parent/guardian and community representatives.
- Use data to drive program development and evaluation.
The School Counselor/Child Development Specialist at Clackamas River Elementary School will:
- Abide by the professional school counseling ethics ad standards as advocated by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA).
- Participate in professional development activities essential to maintaining a quality School Counseling Program.
