Clinical Supervision
In my supervision approach, I prioritize Humanistic, Multicultural, and Developmental frameworks. My goal is to foster self-exploration and growth in supervisees while advocating for multiculturalism and social justice. Throughout our supervision, we will delve into systemic dysfunction, vicarious trauma, power/privilege/oppression, and cultural humility, examining how they shape our practice and personal lives. As a supervisor, I strive to create a safe space for supervisees to address their experiences and the impact of their work on their development as therapists. I aim to ensure that supervisees feel valued, supported, and empowered to voice their thoughts.
Regarding the developmental aspect of supervision, I see my role as monitoring the quality of client care, enhancing clinical skills, and nurturing personal growth. Supervisees can expect prompt feedback on clinical and administrative processes, including notes and treatment plans. Initially, I take a more hands-on approach, gradually granting more autonomy as supervisees grow in confidence. Ultimately, my aim is for supervisees to feel empowered, knowing they can seek my support during crises and challenging moments, while also gaining independence in a nurturing and collaborative environment.
I have extensive experience working in various clinical settings, including public schools, universities, rural health clinics, outpatient mental health clinics, postvention crisis services, child abuse assessment agencies, and private practice. In my current work, I specialize in using Nature-based EcoTherapy, EMDR and IFS to support LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults with trauma. I have completed over 50 hours of advanced training in clinical supervision and have successfully passed the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT) exam for clinical supervisors. I am approved by the board to supervise LPC Registered Associates, LMFT Registered Associates, and graduate-level students. If you have any questions, I am happy to provide more information about my training, supervision, and experience.
