EcoTherapy
Ecotherapy, also known as nature-based therapy, brings the counseling session outdoors. Research has shown that time spent in nature can have a positive impact on both the mind and the body, especially when it comes to stress, anxiety and depression.
For Ecotherapy counseling sessions, you and I would meet at a trailhead in the Mt. Hood National Forest, and spend the session working towards your counseling goals while breathing in the fresh mountain air. As we walk along the meandering path, we might stop and notice the smell of the trees, the sound of the river and the rhythm of our breath. By incorporating talk therapy, mindfulness and movement, we are strengthening positive neural pathways and developing self-regulation tools. Trail options include easy, moderate, and difficult, and accommodations can be made for those with limited mobility.
